CRITICAL SLOPE EQUATIONS FOR OPEN CHANNELS
Critical slope is a key parameter occurring in the analysis of varied flow in open channels. The analysis of varied flow under various operating conditions is required for design of canals. The available critical slope equations are based on the Manning's equation, which does not involve meaningful resistance parameters like average roughness height and the kinematic viscosity of water. Furthermore, the Manning's equation is applicable in the restricted range of relative roughness. Reported herein are explicit equations of critical slope for various open channel sections.
