Performative Surfaces
A series of spatial devices were created for the Knowlton School of Architecture Project Space Gallery at Ohio State University. Each device was conceived as a performative element that would interact in varying ways with the gallery space and its changing exhibits. Three primary elements—a pivoting entry door-facçade, a new ceiling treatment, and mechanical skirt—work in concert to continually transform the space's ambient qualities. Each device uses familiar materials that have been juxtaposed with one another to create visually complex surfaces and evolving effects.
