Engineering properties of lime-stabilized Ariake clay with fly ash/FWG
Fly ash and foaming waste glass (FWG), were used as additives to improve Ariake clay, a very soft clay with high water content. It was noted from the results that addition of fly ash and FWG improved remarkably the engineering properties, namely the dynamic behaviors under repeated loading with increased resilient modulus and decreased permanent strain of the mixtures. The durability, volume change and weight loss, was also improved significantly. It was concluded that the two waste materials can be used as secondary additives and part replacement of lime for soft clay stabilization.
