Performance evaluation of mine fire detectors
Factory Mutual Research Corporation, under sponsorship of the U.S. Bureau of Mines, is developing standardized test criteria and procedures which will assure that fire detectors selected for installation in mines will: 1) be reliable in operation; 2) be located in the most effective position; and 3) function routinely with minimal maintenance. A summary of the progress is presented, including the major findings thus far obtained during a four-phase multi-year program.
