Ergonomic aspects of operator cabins on earth moving machinery
Six kinds of earth moving machines (EMM's): wheelloaders, hydraulic excavators, backhoeloaders, crawlerdozers, graders and draglines were the subjects in this study on ergonomic aspects of operator cabins. The objective of this study was to formulate guidelines for designing cabins. Data were obtained by means of observations, interviews, some measurements in the cabins and from literature. The results show that existing standards and ergonomic principles are not always met: Better solutions could be reached given the technological know how; several well designed examples prove that. Some results will be discussed and a few guidelines will be schematically outlined.
