Fire pumps for the oil and gas industry
Within the offshore Oil and Gas industry there are three different types of drive system for fire pumps namely shaft drive through a right angled gearbox, electrical drive and hydraulic drive. Each type is described and compared on efficiency, reliability, weight, flexibility and costs. Depending on the emphasis placed on each of these factors it is shown that there is a need for each of the systems described.
