Wood coatings for the furniture industry
This paper describes the radiation curing technology (formulations and application processes) for wood coatings in the furniture industry: 100 % solids applied by roller coating, curtain coating, spray gun, vacuum coating and water borne systems applied by spray coating. These techniques allow to get an open or closed pore aspect and a clear or pigmented finishing. The technology has been evolving thanks to new binders, photoinitiators, curing equipment and application equipment. Recent developments are mainly in the combination of existing technologies.
