Predicting dynamic wind loading on cantilevered canopy roof structures
The possibilities of dynamic wind-loading problems on cantilevered roof structures is discussed. Experimental evidence is presented that suggests that any significantly important effects are likely to be constrained to body generated rather than free-stream turbulence. Correlations between wind velocity and local pressure spectra, and their respective coherences are given. It is argued that if the structure is too flexible, then the natural frequency may fall uncomfortably close to the frequency range in which strong well-correlated wind loading may occur.
