Uniaxial tension in carbon fiber reinforced cement, sensed by electrical resistivity measurement in longitudinal and transverse directions
Cement reinforced with short carbon fibers is capable of sensing its own strain due to the effect of strain on the electrical resistivity. The uniaxial tension of carbon fiber reinforced cement paste under the elastic regime caused reversible increases in both longitudinal and transverse resistivities. It was shown that without the fiber, the conductivity increase was much smaller and less reversible.
