Application of stainless steel to potable water service in Japan
Recent developments in the application of stainless steel to the potable water service system in Japan, especially the service water pipe, the water pipe bridge and the water distribution reservoir, are reviewed. Furthermore, the effects of soil environments and the water quality on the corrosion resistance of stainless steel are discussed. As for the indoor piping, a tentative guideline to determine the corrosiveness of the water is proposed based on the analysis of field corrosion cases and laboratory experiments. (VDEh)
