Use of textile structures in building construction has increased, performance of materials has improved and know-how is available to designers. Form-finding analysis and cutting-pattern are well documented in the literature, but little attention has been paid to the details. However, designing textile architectural structures does require careful attention to details, particularly to joints and connections. The main requirements are shape, strength, flexibility and water-proofing. The behaviour can be analysed following the path of loads going from the membrane to the supports and checking all the elements involved. Detailing misconsideration may lead to poor solutions, local failures or general collapses. In this contribution, a number of examples for the design of seams, edges, ridges and valleys, corners, internal points, and base plates are presented.
