Utilization of galvanic sludge in building materials production
In the paper, a possibility of using galvanic sludge in the brickmaking is discussed. The chemical and phase composition of inorganic wastes of purification of wastewater of galvanic plants was studied using chemical analysis and X ray powder diffraction. It is found that the galvanic slime contains SiO2, Al2O3, iron oxides, and heavy metal compounds and can be used as a component of feedstock for brickmaking along with clay and quartz sand. It is shown that the properties of the brick samples meet the international standards.
