Decorative low emission polyurethane floor coatings for indoor rooms
VOC-emissions in indoor rooms are of a high topic nowadays and all responsible-minded producer of potential emission capable building and furniture products have to go into this problem. By choosing suitable formulation-components a decorative 2C-polyurethane coating could be optimized in a way that the T-VOC-values were under 600 microgramm/m3 after 28 days so it was labelled with the certification 'schadstoffarm' by the federal trade institution Bayern. The testing chamber parameters were taken over by the furniture and floor-coating testing and concerning the air-changing rate it was adjusted to the practice specialities of a liquidly applied reactive-resin-coating. During the first seven days when the coating hasn't completely hardened an air-changing-rate of 1.5 was adjusted (effect is similar to that of a tilted window). Between the 8th and 28th day an air-changing-rate of 0.5 was adjusted. The received values agreed quite satisfactory with the air measurings carried through in real-rooms. The certificate 'schadstoffarm' with a TVOC-limit-value of max. 600 microgramm/m3, defined according to the above mentioned method, present a sensible practice-close valuation of reactive-resin based floor coatings that should be considered in the various committees that have to deal with this important subject.
