Adhesive and grout for ceramic flooring commerical and industrial
Protection of industrial flooring is of great interest. The stability does also depend on the grout and adhesives used for the ceramic tiles. Damaged grout and loose tiles are the result of chemical and acid attacks. To prevent and minimize damage, flooring should be inspected and the entire requirements pointed out before use and planning. For mechanical stressed areas sand and cement-based adhesives are quite sufficient. For flooring subjected to chemical stress or aggressive cleaning agents, epoxy resin-based mortar is the appropriate mortar. Silicate-based mortars are also of great interest. In this article, the authors compare material and find out in which area they can be used. The advantages of cement-based mortars as well as the disadvantages were highlighted and compared to those of epoxy resin-based mortar and grout and of polymer silicate-based mortars. A guideline was presented which shows the afforded material class depending on the field of application, the resulting requirements to the adhesives and grout. It has been shown that polymer silicate based mortar offers a very interesting opportunity to all systems on the market. Although environmental health and safety aspects give a great reason to replace resin mortar with inorganic mineral polymer silicate system whenever possible.
