Effect of constituents on the workability and rheology of self-compacting concrete
The paper deals with results from a series of laboratory tests conducted to investigate the effect of various constituents on the properties of fresh Self-Compacting Concrete (SCC). The properties were evaluated both by means of workability tests, i.e. slump flow, T50 and V-funnel, as well as by rheological testing, using a ConTec Viscometer 4. As expected the results show that constituents such as air entrainment, silica fume, filler and water amount influence the concrete in different directions. It was further shown that the workability and rheology was affected by the replacement of natural rounded aggregates by crushed rock materials.
