The initial conception of monitoring of water cycles in the iron and steel industry on the basis of a general water and salt balance simulation software developed by the Institute for Ferrous Metallurgy is presented. The material gained in this way is a contribution to taking up comprehensive works in this subject for the needs of Polskie Huty Stali S.A concern in relation to the EU Directive no 96/61.
