The briquetting and compacting of sludge was studied in a laboratory roll press to convert the sludge into a solid fertilizer or fuel. In particular, the demand for heat energy for dehydration disinfection and biostabilization processes was taken into consideration. A commercial roll press for briquetting and compacting the sludge was designed.
