As well as having one of the world's largest reverse osmosis desalination facilities, the Fujairah combined water and power plant is also pioneering the concept of a hybrid approach, in which the RO system is operated in conjunction with an MSF desalination facility, as well as an integrated CCGT. The benefits are flexibility with the ability to match operations to seasonal power demand variations, and cost and fuel savings.
