Structural characterization of hybrid Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) - Autoclave Aerated Concrete (AAC) panels
The structural characterization of hybrid fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) was analyzed. The carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) reinforcement was applied on the top and bottom faces of the ACC panel and several innovative processing techniques were used including hand lay up as well as VaRTM. Surface preparation techniques were reviewed and analyzed to investigate sensitivity of the interface between FRP and AAC. The pull-off test (ACI-530R) was conducted in order to quantify the resultant surface strength of concrete in each case and to analyze which one resulted in a better surface strength.
