Enhanced exploitation of bridge vibration measurements by operational modal analysis
The paper reviewed some recent developments in modal parameter estimation that allow maximal and automated vibration data exploitation. The PolyMAX method for Operational Modal Analysis is briefly discussed. The most striking advantage of PolyMAX is that it yields extremely clear stabilization diagrams. Hence, it is relatively straightforward to automate the analysis process and embed it in a continuous monitoring system so that not only the raw accelerations can be automatically recorded but also the modal parameters of the structure. The work was conducted in the framework of the EC 6-FWP research project NMP2-CT-2003- 501084 INMAR (Intelligent Materials for Active Noise Reduction, www.lbf.fhg.de/inmar), more specifically in Work Area 3.2 Condition Monitoring. The support of the EC is gratefully acknowledged.
