The non-contact electrical resistivity method was used to interpret the compatibility of superplasticizing admixture with different types of cements: ordinary Portland cement (OPC), high belite cement (HBC), and calcium sulfoaluminate cement (CSA). The non-contact electrical resistivity measurement system could continuously and accurately record the resistivity development of cement-based materials right after mixing. In this research the incorporation of the same dosages of superplasticizer into different types of cements with same w/c ratio, and the influence of different superplasticizer dosages at the same w/c ratio on the hydration of different cements had been studied. The characteristics of the resistivity development curve were identified and used to describe the hydration of the cements. Other traditional tests were also applied to compare with the results of electrical properties. Furthermore, the pastes properties and mechanisms with superplasticizer were discussed.
