Integrate photoacoustic method and soot scattering theory to detect fire
Sensitive detection of evolved gas and smoke are always the demand in fire detection. Common photoacoustic gas detection method possesses high sensitivity but poor response time. Gas filter technology enables on-line photoacoustic gas detection but never used for smoke detection. This method realized on-line photoacoustic measurement of CO concentration and smoke concentration. Fire products, including gaseous components and smoke particles, were measured in the measuring path between the light source and the photoacoustic cells. A CO gas cell and a reference gas cell which worked as gas filters, were used to measure the light extinction caused by CO absorption and smoke particles scattering. By processing the signal attenuation of the two cells, CO concentration and smoke concentration were obtained simultaneously.
