According to a world-wide tendency of water use rationalization, the present work presents macro actions implemented by V&M do Brasil during the last 10 years, related to the its global treatment system, liquid effluent recirculation and discarding. The actions aimed the reduction of the water consumption in the industrial VMB park, guided by the Managing Water Plan, developed together with Hidroprocess Consultoria e Servicos Ltda in 1996. As a result it was possible to reduce the industrial water consumption in 66 %, from 1996 to 2006, even though the steel production increased in 26 %.
