The main purpose of this research is to study and evaluate the production of interlocking concrete pavers, in accordance with Brazilian standard NBR - 9781/87, using BOF (basic oxygen furnace) steel slag and refractory concrete wastes, both coming from steelmaking process. These wastes were chosen in order to substitute natural aggregates like sand and limestone rocks. Density and granulometric analysis were carried out and the composition in weight of the used mixtures, are showed. Environmental characterization was done according to Brazilian standards. The simple compression and abrasion tests were made to show the adequacy of these residues when compared with natural resources. The conclusion, according to the results obtained, is that the wastes used have a great potential for utilization in the production of interlocked pavers.
