The use of alternative constituents in cement-based solidification/stabilization of electric arc furnace dust
This paper aims to demonstrate the potential of cement-based Solidification/Stabilisation for the treatment of electric arc furnace dust (EAFD) with a dual view to comply with the Waste Acceptance Criteria (WAC) as well as obtaining a final product with potential for re-use. Moreover, the prospects of replacing cement with low cost-effective alternative materials such as PFA, MgO, hydrated lime and steel slag produced from the steel industry are investigated with the aim to improve the long term sustainability of this technique for the treatment of hazardous wastes.
