Utylizacja odpadow polistyrenu spienionego w kompozycjach z wtornymi bitumami naftowymi
Commercial secondary petroleum bitumens (pyrolysis oil residue, furfurol extract, clarified oil from catalytic cracking, spent motor oil) were modified by addition of expanded polystyrene (EPS)wastes to improve their homogeneity and stability. The optimum conditions of blending the components were elaborated. The produced bitumen/polymer blends were studied for thermal stability, softening and dropping points, penetration, ductility, hardness and elastic reverse. Both the softening and dropping temperatures of the blends increased with increasing EPS waste content in the composition. The penetration index was calculated on the basis of results of penetration as a function of temperature to assess the thermal susceptibility of petroleum asphalt. The compositions met the basic requirements for brittle industrial and hard road asphalts.
