Finite Element Analysis of Foundation Settlement of 220 kV Transmission Tower with Independent Foundation
The uneven subsidence of the independent foundation of the transmission tower often happens in the coal mining area, which causes serious threat to the safe operation of transmission lines. In this paper, the finite element analysis is carried out for a certain 220 kV tower-ling coupling system, and the effects of the different kinds of earth deformations on the structure responses are studied. The results show that the contribution of the vertical displacement of the foundation to the variations of the internal forces of the tower is quite small and the resultant stress does not exceed its critical value. However, in the same load conditions, when the distance of root span changed or asymmetry settlement is overexertion, the truss member stress of the cross braces exceeds the yield strength of the materials and occurs yield deformation.
