HVT - The power-split transmission for wheel loaders
As the outcome of an intensive transmission concept comparison and selection process, the Hydromechanic Variable Transmission (HVT) is a transmission specifically designed to fulfill todays and future needs of mobile machines. It combines the comfort, controllability and fuel efficiency of a hydrostatic drive at low speed with the high efficiency of a power-split structure for driving conditions. The synchronous shifting between the drive ranges is done in an exceptional smooth way for fluent highdynamic reversing and pile-entering operations. Depending an the load condition, the shifting occurs between 3 and 7 kph to combine performance and efficiency in the best way. For low fuel consumption, both full tractive effort and maximum speed driving are already guaranteed with an engine speed of 1600 rpm. Due to the usage of loadsensing speed-controllable hydrostatic units the transmission offers state-of-the-art controllability of tractive effort, speed and positioning. With the modular, componentisized software the HVT is ready for the development of a platform of power-split transmissions for various applications. The HVT is the basis for the complete vehicle optimization regarding functionality and operating costs in an integrated systematic approach with components and systems by Dana and Bosch Rexroth.
