Polymer binders for innovative building mate
Being used as a building material in above-ground building construction is a comparatively recent application for polymer concrete. As part of an AiF-ZIM project, modular blocks and also the corresponding manufacturing technology have been developed for the rapid and reversible erection of buildings. The main emphasis here was on using unclassified fillers available at the production location, such as, for example, desert sand. The Modular Assembly System (MAS) made of polymer concrete for the rapid and reversible erection of buildings, for example, as emergency accommodation in crisis areas, are an innovative development from our partner company, PolyCare Research Technology GmbH. These components consist of about 10 - 14% reactive resin and about 86 - 90% fillers plus the additives needed for processing and for securing particular properties. In parallel with the MAS components, machines and materials handling technology have also been developed. The aim is to give the user an easy to handle, tailored total package for the production of polymer concrete components and with which even unskilled workers can produce simple, statically safe and durable building components.
