Alternative binding materials for the briquettes production from the metallurgical wastes
This work deals with the influence of different types of binding materials (bentonite, water glass and molasses) on the strength properties of briquettes prepared from the fine-grained metallurgical wastes. Two different mechanical tests i.e. drop impact test and compressive strength test were used in experiments for strength evaluation of prepared briquettes. Furthermore influence of the binder amount and the hardening time on strength properties was investigated. Obtained results were evaluated using the Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA). The highest compressive strength was measured in briquettes using molasses as a binder after seven days of hardening.
