The use of RAC (Recycled Aggregate Concrete) for structural purposes in prefabrication
The large scale test results show that is possible to produce prestressed beams using concrete with 100 % and 50 % of Recycled Aggregates. The beams made from RAC with 100 % of RA and 50 % of RA performed satisfactory in both casting and testing phases. To attain this results it is very important a correct mix-design procedure together with the exact controI of the mix components. The mechanical behaviour of prestressed beams made from RAC is clearly influenced by the E- value. A marked recovering of deformations has been noticed in the beams casted with a concrete with 100 % of RA compared with that one with 100 % of NA.
