Water reclamation using continious electro-deionization
Several methods including distillation method and ion exchange resin method, have been used to produce pure water wich is used in various applications. Pure water is increasingly required in current industries featuring the advanced technology. In an attempt to meet this requirement, new pure water production systems are developed combining various unit processes such as membrane method. Meanwhile pure water production system is also required to be environmentally friendly and easy to use. Authors have been working on pure water production system wich uses electrodeionization technique employing non-woven ion exchange fabric. This system does not discharge chemical wastes wich increases salt in the environment as it does not have to be chemically regenerated. As it is capable for producing pure water featuring very high purity, it can be applied to various processes wich need ultrpure water. This paper discusses basic performance of this system and shows an application example. In this example, the system is installed to waste water recovery system of a plant wich employs ultrapure water production system.
