Detection of surging sound with wavelet transform and neural networks
An acoustic diagnosis technique for a blower using wavelet transforms and neural networks is described. It is important for this diagnosis to detect surging phenomena, which may lead to the destruction of the blower. A dyadic wavelet transform is used as the pre-processing method, while a multi-layered neural network is used as the discrimination method. An experiment is performed for a blower. The results show that the neural network with the wavelet transform can detect surging sounds well.
