Progressive failure analysis of reinforced concrete structures using plasticity and endochronic based models
The description and capabilities of a finite element based multipurpose computer program EPMARCS, developed at Utah State University for progressive failure analysis of concrete and reinforced concrete structures, are discussed. The constitutive models and failure criteria discussed in the previous paper by the authors are used in the analysis. To illustrate the validity of the computer code, two benchmark problems, namely the pullout and split cylinder tests, are analyzed and the predicted behaviors are compared with the available experimental observations. A close agreement between the predictions and the test results is illustrated. The program EPMARCS is capable of predicting very closely the behavior of complex reinforced structures subjected to complicated loading conditions, such as offshore platforms and reactor vessels.
