Latest developments of vertical concrete volute pumps
The present paper describes some of the latest developments of vertical concrete volute pumps. These developments have been undertaken in order to improve the hydraulic performance of concrete volute pumps and to lower the cost of the concrete structures. New hydraulic designs allow to extend the usual operating range with concrete volute pumps suitable to heads lower than 33 ft (10 m) or higher than 100 ft (30 m). Simultaneously the shapes of the concrete volute and the concrete intake chamber have been modified in order to combine an optimum hydraulic design with cheaper concrete structurs.
