Vibration analysis of Timoshenko beams with non-homogeneity and varying cross-section
In this paper, a simple and efficient method for free and forced vibration analysis of Timoshenko beams with arbitrary non-homogeneity and variable cross-section is presented. As an approximation, the non-homogeneous beam with variable cross-section is replaced by a number of homogeneous stepped beams with constant cross-section. Then the closed form solutions of both free and forced vibration for the stepped beam can be obtained in terms of the initial parameters at one end of the beam. As the number of the stepped beams increases, the results converge to the exact solutions of the original beams quite quickly.
