From soil mechanics to evaluation and prediction of earth-moving works
The present work considers the possibility to automate soil cutting process using the cutting tool itself to sense the process and soil parameters. The methods is based on soil cutting frequency or the distance between subsequent soil failures and the ratio between the soil cutting force contributions of soil cohesion and weight, numerical method to carry out these informations from the noisy signal of soil cutting force is shown too. These methods make a simple blade a field instrument to measure soil characteristic, to compare it with other geotechnical methods and instrument the dependence of Coulomb's law on moisture content and void ratio is considered.
