The sources of depreciation which result in loss of value of real estate may be categorized in a three-type classification: environmental obsolescence, functional obsolescence, and physical deterioration. The latter is called depreciation and can be estimated in terms of a function of state of the structural function which, in turn, is obtained with the help of a comprehensive fuzzy evaluation of structural reliability. Using the method for estimating depreciation which is proposed, the real value of an existing building can be obtained.
