Trenchless technology research in the Netherlands
As major parts of the Netherlands are very densely populated, the need for an effective use of the ground surface has achieved great prominence. As a result, research is being conducted to determine the advantages and possibilities of three-dimensional ground use. Part of this research is focused on the Trenchless Technologies, as the expectation is growing that in the future a part of the transport of goods will take place via dedicated underground pipeline systems. Organizations that are active in research include: Netherlands Society for Trenchless Technology (NSTT); Centre for Underground Construction (COB); Delft University of Technology; and Drilling of Tunnels and Pipelines (BTL).
