Feral Surfaces: Building Envelopes as Intelligent Multi‐species Habitats
AbstractDesigning architectural interventions for many species that function and are hospitable for a variety of occupants, creating convivial habitats at a range of scales, is a preoccupation of Brooklyn‐based Harrison Atelier. Founder and principal Ariane Lourie Harrison leads us through some of the design collective's award‐ winning projects. As well as encouraging animal inhabitants, the firm's architecture is also smart, observing and recording activity to register data often not previously available.
