Eine Plattform für die Wissenschaft: Bauingenieurwesen, Architektur und Urbanistik
The motivation for the emergence of a Soft Operational Research (OR) and the development of problem structuring methods was always problem oriented – the belief, amongst some, within OR that it needed to retain its policy relevance, its applicability to social issues, with methodologies that were suitable for addressing wicked/messy/swampy problems. The agenda that the author sets out in this chapter is motivated by the desire to keep Hard and Soft OR bound together in OR as an academic discipline and profession. The chapter also focuses on three strands (i) building links from Soft OR practice; (ii) addressing matters of OR education and maintaining links with the systems community; and (iii) looking at new ways forward for OR, building on the developments of a problem structuring sensibility in engineering practice and a new processual interpretation for modelling.
