Eine Plattform für die Wissenschaft: Bauingenieurwesen, Architektur und Urbanistik
In his column, AWWA Executive Director Jack Hoffbuhr examines how the American Water Works Association (AWWA) acts as the social glue that develops a successful community for the water profession. Specifically, he discusses three areas where AWWA needs to excel that include: providing members with an identity of belonging to a responsive, meaningful association that gives them opportunities to share their talent to further the goals of the profession and AWWA; linking members to each other and the larger world by integrating electronic and face‐to‐face interaction; and, providing a variety of methods for enhancing the professional development of its members not only by training events, but also by interacting socially with others in the profession to tap into their vast reservoir of knowledge. Hoffbuhr refers to a survey of volunteers from a wide variety of associations on the benefits of volunteerism and gives the percentages of responses to each of these three areas.
