The Long Beach (Calif.) Water Department's metering program is discussed here. The use of a corrosion‐inhibiting oil coating, which has virtually eliminated corrosion deterioration of measuring chambers and decreased wear as indicated to date, has proven to be an important factor in determining the optimum time to remove, recondition, and replace a meter. The most important single item to observe in evaluating a metering program is the metered percentage of total water to be accounted for.
