Snowpack water reservoirs are of great importance. For proper management of reservoirs, extensive surveys must be made and regularly updated to take account of changing conditions. At the NASA‐Ames Res. Ctr. an active electromagnetic system is being developed to measure the depth and density of snowpacks, thus yielding the water equivalent.
