Eine Plattform für die Wissenschaft: Bauingenieurwesen, Architektur und Urbanistik
Roofs come in all shapes and sizes. This chapter discusses placing roofs by footprint, creating a sloping roof, creating roofs by extrusion, and adding a roof dormer. It exposes the reader to the tools needed to tackle roof system situations himself. The chapter employs techniques that start with the concept of adding a roof to the model by using the actual floor‐plan footprint. It shows the procedure to create a flat roof by outlining the building's geometry in the plan, and that the process for tapering a roof is similar to pitching a floor. Creating a roof by extrusion is almost always done in an elevation or a section view. The best way to add a roof dormer is to modify an existing roof. With the length of the dormer established, users need to indicate to Revit that they want it to be a gable‐end dormer.
