WATER UTILITIES—A VICTIM OF SUCCESS
The water utilities in the US take pride in the fact that the waters they produce are the best in the world. However, they—particularly the smaller—systems cannot be smug about their accomplishments. Too many systems fail to provide water that complies with AWWA or USPHS standards. The author remonstrates about what measures are needed and describes what measures are being, and will be, taken in the state of Washington that fit in with AWWA's “Action Now” program. His message, however, is universal.
