An innovative technology to improve surface water quality
The Surface Water Protection System (SWPS) helps solve water pollution problems by minimizing particulates, certain organic contaminants, and bacterial loading to surface water reservoirs. The SWPS can be an effective tool to alleviate water contamination in surface water reservoirs and intake systems for water treatment facilities. The technology is designed to lessen the need for extensive pretreatment facilities and high concentrations of chlorine as a bactericide. The SWPS includes a full water column filter curtain, supported by a floating boom and anchored to the contour of the floor of the body of water. The curtain is designed to greatly reduce coliform bacteria numbers and turbidity in the body of water it protects. The boom isolates a source of storm water discharge and stops the transport of particulate material and associated bacteria from entering the main body of water.
