In this chapter, the authors introduce the reader to a framework of systemic ideas that they have found to be of practical value. This particular scaffolding of fundamental system concepts has helped “restore many churches.” The authors illustrate the concept of systemic thinking using the example of an eight hundred year old building, St. Mary’s Church in the English village of Kempsey, Worcestershire.
