Direct Potable Reuse —Australian Style
Australia is the driest inhabited continent on earth. Effective water management has been and remains a critical issue for Australian communities. Conversations around this issue have reached a new intensity particularly over the past two decades, driven primarily by severe drought and the consequent pressure on drinking water supplies in Australia's towns and cities. Australia needed a thorough and authoritative assessment of the potential for direct potable reuse as an option for drinking water supply.
