Air Monitoring in Confined Spaces
The specific monitoring requirements of OSHA Permit‐Required Confined Space Standard are outlined. Air sampling procedures are summarized. The equipment and procedures for real‐time monitoring with direct‐reading instruments for oxygen, combustible, and toxic atmospheres are discussed. Instrument calibration and instrument special features are reviewed. The use of detector tubes is also described. The challenges to interpreting air monitoring data are discussed.
